Physical therapy uniquely blends a deep understanding of human movement and performance with the ability to build meaningful, long-term relationships. Ryan was drawn to the medical field at a young age, largely due to personal experiences that exposed the shortcomings of our healthcare system. He saw firsthand how systems constrained by time, rigid productivity demands, and a symptom-focused approach to care prevented providers from truly guiding patients through the full recovery process. Yet introduction to physical therapy changed Ryan’s perspective entirely: the opportunity to meet patients at the beginning of their injury or condition and walk alongside them through every stage of recovery was an immediate and lasting calling.
Ryan’s ongoing pursuit of clinical excellence and unwavering commitment to his patients set him apart as a physical therapist. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Doctorate in Physical Therapy at East Tennessee State University, and has well over a decade of experience in the field. Ryan’s approach acknowledges that true rehabilitation extends beyond prescribing stretches and exercises. While movement is essential, progress is often limited if the underlying tissue is not adequately prepared to tolerate load and stress. Ryan emphasizes restoring tissue health and optimizing the internal environment of the tissue itself, paired with intentional, progressive loading through fundamental movement patterns that challenge the body across all planes of motion. These principles allow patients not only to recover, but to become more resilient, adaptable, and confident in how they move.
A highly sought-after guest clinician, lecturer, and educator, Ryan regularly offers presentations covering a wide array of topics, such as specialty modalities, chronic pain, and athlete movement analysis. His expertise extends far beyond the clinic, and he works closely with multiple organizations to offer customized educational programs for varying audiences. In addition to certifications in Vestibular Rehabilitation and Concussion (AIB) and ACL injury prevention, Ryan’s areas of specialization include lower extremity biomechanics, barbell mechanics, and custom orthotic fabrication, which allow him to work closely with diverse patient populations. Whether spending an evening at the theater, training under a heavy barbell, or skiing down a black diamond, Ryan is drawn to experiences that challenge his body and mind. But some of his favorite moments are the quiet ones, piled on the couch with his family and spending time together
